Powered by Loloey’s Italian design approach of masterfully blending an unbroken tradition of workmanship, fine manufacturing and pure creativity, the range combines luxurious materials and textures such as silk, linen, merino wool and metallic yarn with master craftsmanship.

The result is a sophisticated and elegant collection made up of 20 unique designs inspired and influenced by Asia, nature, geometric and linear shapes featured in neutral shades with accents of gold and silver. The rugs are stylish and versatile, making them a perfect addition to any design schemes.

Loloey explains a bit more about the various steps involved in the production of the rugs for the collection, which is very much an artisanal process.

Hand-tufting is a weaving technique in which the pile is incorporated to a cotton base by hand with a pistol-shaped device. The first step is the dyeing of the yarns. The pattern design is laid out on cotton fabric which is then stretched over a frame. The tufting gun is used to punch the yarn through the fabric and is fastened to a latex base. The yarn is then cut with special scissors and shaved to ensure equal height or different pile heights. This technique allows the artisans to create curved patterns and pile of different heights and densities.

This production process requires skilled craftsmen who interpret the design and have solid technical know-how and knowledge of colours to achieve the perfect hue. Hand-carving, which is extensively used in the Kelly Hoppen Capsule Collection, is an add-on that gives even more definition to specific designs.
